PAST: Exhibition
TOURIST
Among the world’s fastest-growing industries, tourism is perhaps the most ephemeral. Structured around a desire to partake, to move and remove oneself, today’s tourism industry requires expansive and costly architectures that provide material infrastructures serving a largely immaterial purpose.
To the tourist, everything is imbued with life-altering potential stopping short of deliverance. Airplane terminals, bus stops and stations are viaducts of desire giving way to sun-kissed terraces that promise to bridge the gap between reality and imagination. Elusive places where fulfillment awaits and every gesture contains the possibility of completeness.
